Soul Kitchen
featuring Hillary Smith
Soul Kitchen Featuring Hillary Smith are:
Chris Dracup, a life long resident of New Mexico, began performing
at the age of sixteen in his hometown of Taos, NM.
Since then he has been a singer and lead guitarist with some
of New Mexico's favorite bands,
including "The Muttz", "The Rattle Cats", "The Chris Dracup Trio" and
"The Chris Dracup Project".
Known for his stunning and soulful electric blues guitar,
he works in a diverse range of musical styles.
His acoustic guitar playing draws heavily from the blues tradition,
an eclectic mix of Delta slide, country blues and jazz influences.
His songwriting has garnered critical and popular acclaim and
won him an enduring fan base.
In 2002, Chris and the Chris Dracup Trio became finalists
in the New Mexico Music Showcase.
He has also been a featured performer at some
of the region's top music festivals, including the Thirsty Ear Festival,
The Telluride Blues and Brews Festival and the Silver City Blues Festival.
In 2004, Chris was featured on a television commercial
for Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexicos You've got the Blues ad campaign.
In addition, he has shared the stage with many popular touring acts.
He has recently started a family with his wife Melissa and
has two daughters, Aleida Rose and Stephanie Corinne.
He still maintains a regular performance schedule,
performing his original songs and the blues, reggae and
funk classics that are a staple of his act.
Tommy Elskes(els-kiss) is a musician's musician.
He has that all too rare ability to truly affect people with his music.
Ask The General Norman Shwarzkopf, Lyle Lovett or my 9 year old son Ryan.
They will all tell you he is the best.
Tommy's music is a wonderful combination of soulful R&B,blues, rock, country
and folk. Did I miss anything! His music defines accessibility.
He started his musical career somewhere around the age of 10
with the Albuquerque Boys Choir and
has been charming people with his music ever since.
Tommy credits aggregate influences for his vocal ability to tell a story.
"It doesn't matter what year it may be,
entertainment remains essentially unchanged.
Basically you're still a minstrel, and as such you're not that far removed
from the Middle Ages.
Your job is still to stir emotions and make listeners feel something.
The more personal experience you can bring to bear emotionally
as a singer the easier it becomes to persuade the audience to share your vision."
This philosophy is evidenced by his vocal versatility which ranges
from a cappella solos to performances with stage bands and
everything in between.
Whether it's blues, rock'n'roll, gospel, country or the Star Spangled Banner,
Tommy's vocal style exudes conviction and eludes classification.
He has shared the stage with the likes of Muddy Waters, Carl Perkins,
Richie Havens, Lightnin' Hopkins, B.B. King and Lyle Lovett just to name a few.
I am very proud to have the chance to work with Tommy.
His first Horizon Records release titled "BOHEMIA" is available online
and in stores.

Hillary Smith
Written by Mel Minter
With a deep soulfulness rooted in the Gospel-driven churches of her youth,
a classically trailed vocal instrument that's a natural wonder, and
a God- given instinct for swinging a lyric, vocalist Hillary Smith has been electrifying audiences across the United States for more then a quarter century.
Hill first made her mark in the early 80s with gutsy performances
of rockin blues and funk.
She's been in demand on the southwest music scene ever since,
fronting a number of popular bands, including the award- winning Strictly Taboo.
Whatever the genre or venue, Hillary Smith always delivers soulful performances
that fill listeners hearts with her warmth, love and sheer musical excitement.
Hill was recently namedBest of City by Albuquerque,
the magazine for Best Musician
